Meet the designer

Hi! I'm Sarah Magidoff.

And I’m the designer behind CANOPY. I began designing when I was 4-years-old, crafting dream houses for my toys and dolls. As I grew up, that creativity blossomed into a career as an architect, designing high profile buildings for corporations around the world. I loved the work, but the late nights and tight deadlines took a toll on me, and I burned out. Like hard. Overwhelmed, I couldn’t wrap my head around why my dream job felt so unfulfilling and like a mountain I couldn’t climb. So, I took a leap of faith, left my job, and began a mindful search for something greater. Around that time, a few entrepreneurial friends hired me to design their newly launching brands. Word spread and before long, I had a fully booked schedule. And that’s how CANOPY began!

Looking back on my short-lived career as an architect, I often wonder what would have happened if I had someone who was able to catch me when I was about to fall? It took me a long time to realize I was too important to give up on. Now, I’ve made it my mission that CANOPY will help people strip away the overwhelming pressures of business and focus in on what they love. And, I know that if I can help you create unforgettable branding and feel nourished while doing it, that you’ll be encouraged to press on. I’ve seen it happen time and time again. So, let’s build something beautiful together, alright?

Why I do what I do.

Why the name CANOPY?

On my very first day of architecture school, my professor presented the class with an image depicting a rudimentary structure made of freshly foraged branches woven together to form an intricate canopy. While none of us considered the structure to be real "architecture", the lecturer pointed out that its inhabitants used only the resources at their disposal to make the most elegant creation they possibly could. The point was that the most captivating architecture isn't necessarily grandiose or costly. In fact, the greatest creativity happens when we take what we have and use our imagination to push our creations to be the best they can be.

That lesson stuck with me for nearly a decade. And when it came time to name my own studio, I knew it had to be CANOPY. Now every time I see that name, I'm reminded to find every opportunity to make beauty out of the ordinary.

Sarah has been a complete joy to work with! She is extremely knowledgeable and incredibly talented. I am constantly blown away by her "eye" for beauty. She has so elegantly captured our essence, taking the soul of who we are and crafting it into a work of art that draws people in and enables us to shine. I have recommended Sarah multiple times to friends and will continue to do so."
